Hello Ian,

This has been an incredilble ride for me. I've consistantly followed your directions, I'm doing the excercises...etc. I wish I would have recorded my voice before I had started doing any vocal excercises to hear the "Before & After" and compare the difference. Luckily, I have versions of a song that I had previously recorded to do a comparison. The last version I did I ended up rasing the key a whole step. I know in Jan of 2013 it would have been about 2 years? So, your projection of about a half step a year is right on in my case.

I'm subscribed to you on Youtube...

I'd like to wish you and your Family A Very Merry Christmas!

One more! I've tried to get my ribs to expand for YEARS and have never been able to master it. They go out, but not much... Is there a way to experience that easily?

Hey Ian, firstly, I love your videos and although there are one or two other teachers that I like on YOUTUBE, you have the absolute best tricks and tips for really 'feeling' what your body is and should be doing. I feel like my placement is really good b/c of your videos but I did have a question... I sing from about a G2 up to an A above middle C , my break into my mix seems to be in the Eb and F area. My question is : when I spend some time in my mix, singing songs like modern love (d.bowie) and american girl (t.petty) ... is it normal to not be as comfortable afterwards in my chest register? Am I doing something wrong... is it a support/breathing problem ? thanks. Any advice would help. keep up the good work. If I had the money I'd be a student!

Hello Ian,

I'm Wan from Malaysia.
I just want to ask about the facts that many professional vocal coach or singer argue about.

It is about "Do not imitate the singer when singing his/her song"

But i'm not sure about this facts.
What does it means actually??

Does it mean to not imitate the sound, melody, or the voice of the original singer??
OR
Do not try to catch up the level of the pitch from the original singer?? Because every singer and their own song provide different pitches and note.

I really confuse and give me a headache when it comes to this question.

Not only that, but it also make my daily singing practice are not in properly way.

So i hope, you can teach me or advise me how to sing in first place.

I know it kinds of basic, but, one step wrong then my voice is done.

Thank you
