How To Breathe For Singing

In the fourth Premium Subscriber Video I will be teaching you how to develop low effective breathing.  The lesson has two parts.  The first discusses the technical aspects of breathing and during the second part I will take you through a quick breathing routine that you can use in your daily vocal training.

Thanks for posting this one! I had singing lessons for 3 years in the past, and although my teacher did help me improve my singing, she always insisted that I kept my stomach as tense as possible to support my singing. However, she somehow encouraged me to make the singing feel natural to me. So once I was over with the lessons, I tried to relieve the tension in the abdomen, despite my teacher’s firm belief that you can’t support your voice without it. And poof! That was it! Seriously, you can’t make your voice sound good if you’re not feeling good. And being so tense it actually aches is not what is typically assumed to feel good!

Thanks for the great lesson, that really helped me feels how breathing is suppost to be done!!

  4. Aussie Vocal Coach says:

I had a teacher when I first started singing that also advised me to tense my stomach when singing. The technique of tensing the abdominal muscles can give a sudden burst of power, but it completely destroys the ability to sing long relaxed phrases.

I’m glad you like the lesson.
